About the Project

About the Project

More affordable homes are planned for Prince Rupert. BC Housing and the Prince Rupert Indigenous Housing Society are working together to redevelop part of the Harbour View Gardens site.

Building a strong community plan for the area is important. BC Housing hosted events with the current Harbour View Gardens’ residents, neighbours and local community. These events provided information about peoples’ housing needs to create the site master plan.

The number of units has not yet been determined. The current buildings will be torn down and replaced with new homes. Construction will happen in phases.

Before construction starts, some current tenants will be moving to other homes. BC Housing is working with the M’akola Housing Society to help those tenants. BC Housing will help tenants with reasonable moving costs and fees.

Once construction completes, qualifying tenants will have the opportunity to return to the site, paying the same rent.
