This guide describes the new building code requirements for lateral bracing of small wood-frame structures in high seismic regions of B.C. Designers must consider these requirements when creating the form of the exterior walls, and the dimensions and locations of interior walls. Builders must understand the material requirements as well as the construction methods necessary to fabricate braced wall panels. The guide has been updated to comply with the BC Building Code 2018 lateral load provisions under Part 9.
